Inner models

To imagine is to actualize reality - the outer world is a shell without an inner model of objective perception ('sensation').

The only way the mind could truly understand something - feel, think thoroughly about the relevant concepts etc - is to reflect the outer reality onto itself, the very basis of consciousness.

Without this internal (and entirely subjective) process the world is cold and seemingly 'dirty' (the potential psychological origin of xenophobia etc).
